Hi everyone,

I would like to give you some news.

First of all, as of today, the Dropbox API version 0 is now in restricted access which means that it might happen that you cannot connect or use DropML anymore. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Because of that, I am currently trying to make a new version of DropML using the API version 1.
Also that new version would use the Qt Quick Component for Symbian which means that it should behave better on all the targets esp. on the E6.

Since I am currently working on it alone and do not have much free time to allocate for it, it might take awhile before I can release. This new version will be release once I reach a similar set of behaviors than the existing DropML.

Also it should fix some known bugs and look much more like a Symbian Belle application and, by using the Qt Quick Components, I hope to be able to port the application to the N9. If I am brave enough, why not porting the application to Blackberry 10.

Finally, for those of you having a Pureview 808, I updated the DropML store entry so that you could try. I am not sure whether it works on that platform but technically it should not be a problem.

One last comment about DropML: some one asked, I looked it up, we cannot make it open source due to the consumer key/secret that we hold as it is granted to us, and this could be a legal issue to share that. So please understand our choice not to make DropML open source.

Dropbox new API

Hello dear users/followers,

a few days ago, we received a notification from Dropbox that their API changed and that our application is using an API which will be deprecated in March. This means, we will need to make an update in order to support the new API otherwise it wouldn't be possible for all of you to keep using our application.

I'm not sure what's our current plan. More discussions need to be done within the team to know whether we do anything only for this change or if we try to do something bigger. Stay tuned for more.

We also would like to wish you all a merry xmas and a happy new year and hope to provide a new version of DropML during 2013.

Some updates about DropML

Hello everyone,

it's been quite awhile since our last post.

I would like in the first place to say how sorry we are for not communicating so much with all of you. We haven't been that present lately mainly due to what's happening in our private/professional life but we tried to answer most of you emails or messages, or at least Michele tried.

I guess you all know what is happening currently with Nokia. Thanks to the CEO, many people will be fired, most of them working on things related to Qt.

I personally feel sad and angry about that decision, I guess Michele as well since our contract with Nokia are being terminated.

Some of you contacted us, hoping to see a version for Symbian Belle, hoping to see some updates or maybe new features. I cannot tell you directly that this will never happen as we never know what the future will be made of, but I can tell you, this is not exactly our current priority.

I guess there are only a few chances that we would provide a new version of DropML, unless we really get motivated about it, but once again, our current motivation is in finding a new job.

Sorry if you feel disappointed by this news, but I don't feel that guilty about the decision as DropML is a free software. But as I said, maybe we will get motivated again and provide a new version. Let's see what happens.

File Synchronization

Do you have any problem?

Hi everybody,

A few users reported some issues concerning our application. Do not worry, through investigation and thanks to their help, we were able to determine how to solve these issues.

Upload & Change Directory problem

One of the common issues mentioned is related to the "Upload" feature. Users noticed that nothing was happening when clicking on "Upload File" / "Upload Folder". The same thing can also happen when trying to change the Dropbox directory. Normally, when pressing these buttons, the Symbian native FileDialog should appear.

The reason for this problem lies on the Qt binaries on your phone. They are most likely corrupted. Therefore, to solve the problem, it would be recommended to follow the steps to get the Qt binaries into a stable state.

1. Do a soft reset, dial *#7370#.
2. Install the Ovi Suite on your PC
3. Install the Qt SDK on your PC



Choose Custom Installation



Deselect all components and select only Qt SDK\Development Tools\Symbian Toolchains\Device Files

4. Connect your device to the PC in "PC/Ovi Suite" mode.
5. Install the required libraries to drive C when prompted on the phone: 
1. Choose Start > Qt SDK > Symbian^3 Qt 4.7.3 > Install Qt 4.7.3 for Symbian^3 on Device. Follow the instructions on the screen to install Qt libraries to the device.
2. Choose Start > Qt SDK > Symbian^3 Qt 4.7.3 > Install QtMobility 1.1.3 for Symbian^3 on Device and follow the instructions on the screen to install Qt mobility libraries to the device.
3. Choose Start > Qt SDK > Symbian^3 Qt 4.7.3 > Install QtWebKit for for Qt 4.7.3 on Symbian^3 Device and follow the instructions on the screen to install QtWebKit to the device.
6. Restart the phone

As an alternative for step 5, you can also copy the .sis files from <QtSDK_install_path>\Symbian\sis to the device and install them through the phone UI in the following order:

1. Qt 4.7.3: Symbian^3\Qt\4.7.3\qt.sis
2. QtMobility 1.1.3: Symbian^3\QtMobility\1.1.3\qtmobility.sis
3. QtWebKit for Qt 4.7.3: Symbian^3\Qt\4.7.3\qtwebkit.sis

Note: Install the required Qt libraries on drive C

Login problem

Some of you encountered a connection problem while trying to log in. These users mentioned that the application was keeping displaying "Authorizing" and nothing more was happening.

This error is occurring because of a connection issue. It is most likely that the connection to the DropBox server fails.

Usually, simply restarting the application and trying again should solve the problem. If it's not the case, make sure to have a connection on and then try again. This should solve your problem

EDIT: In some cases, the log in button might not be activated. This means that you might have the prediction mode enabled. Please, deactivate it.
